History

            D.H.Lawrence

The list less beauty of the hour

When the snow fell on the apple-trees

And the woods-ash gathered in the fire

And we faced our first miseries.

Then the sweeping sunshine of noon

When the mountains like chariot cors

Were ranked to blue battle -and you and i

Counted out scars.

And then  in a strange, grey hour

We lay mouth to mlouth, with your face

Under mine, like a star on the lake

And i covered the earth and all space.

The silent drifting hours

Of morn after morn

And yet drifting up to the night

Yet no pathway worn.

Your life and mine, my love

Passing on and on, the hate

Fusing closer and closer with love

Till lenght they mate.

State of mind…

Funeral Blues

  Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He is Dead.
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.

He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last forever: I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now; put out every one,
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun,
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods;
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

W.H. Auden
